Winter Wonderland

Happy Winter Everyone!  I love Project Run and Play so much so this season I wanted to try to sew a few things {we'll see how much really happens}.  The theme of week 1 is Winter Wonderland.  Lately, with the temperatures dipping 20 below zero, it hasn't been much of a wonderland, but we have tried to enjoy winter.

My husband and I spent the first few months after we were married in Juneau and loved every minute of it.  So when I thought about winter my first thought was Alaska, so that was the basis of these outfits.  We both LOVE Alaska and we would go back to visit in a heartbeat.  I decided to make colorful shirts and cozy knit pants for the girls from fabric from Girl Charlee, my favorite place to buy knits.  These outfits also make me think of our favorite wintertime sport, skiing.  This is something they could wear to the ski hill {if we lived closer to one} and be warm and comfy.

Our photo shoot took us to dad's christmas party.

For the knit shirt I used Melly Sew's pattern.  It was so quick and easy I loved it.  I embellished it with an appliqued map of Alaska and embroidered the word for " I love you" in Tlingit  a native people of Alaska.

We were able to spy Santa at dad's Christmas party.

She refused to take off her name tag for the pictures.  Oh well!

The vest and boots were bought at a garage sale 2 summers ago.  They have held up very well.

The girls both love their new winter outfits.

Week 5

Our baby is growing up. He has started pulling himself up to just about everything. He especially likes to pull himself up to the piano and play.

Go to i heart faces to join in the fun!
